Photo instructions and examples.

Prepare calibrated photos for iPhone, iPad, Android or web upload.

How to take the photos

  1. Spread one layer

Leave space between particles on a clean, matt-black surface.

  2. Use diffuse light

Hold the camera parallel to the surface. Keep the particles and scale sharp.

  3. Include a scale

Put a ruler or printed calibration board in every photo. Keep it flat and fully visible.

  4. Check the result

Check the scale and detected particles before relying on the result.

Using a calibration board?

Select a board in the app and print its official PDF at 100% / Actual size. Check the printed dimensions before use.

Currently tested down to 1 mm. Smaller sizes are in development.
